In Germany, there are ten companies which may operate under preliminary permission to carry out crypto securities registry in accordance with Section 65 KWG. Companies could obtain a provisional permit if they had started their activities by December 10, 2021 at the latest and had indicated two months before the start of activity that they intended to continue the activity. Companies had to submit a complete permit application no later than six months after taking up activity. A final permit has not yet been granted.

Crypto securities must be reported to BaFin and are entered in a special BaFin database. Based on this and other public sources (e.g. bond conditions, information on the number and volume of crypto securities issued can be compiled.
